Yavatmal District
History:
Formerly known as "Yoti" or "Yotimal," Yavatmal was the capital of the Kingdom of Berar and, according to ancient scriptures, "the safest place on earth." The Yavatmal region at the time (now the Yavatmal district) was part of the rule of Aladdin Hassan Bermanshah, who founded the Bahmani dynasty in 1347. Yavatmal became part of the East Berar Province in 1863 and later became part of the Southeastern Berar Province. Both Central Province and Berard districts. The state of Maharashtra was established on May 1, 1960, and the Yavatmal district became a part of it.
