Osmanabad District
History:
The name of Osman Ali Khan, formerly known as Darashif before, comes from Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam, the last ruler of Hyderabad who owned the area until 1948. The history of Osmanabad dates back to this time in Ramayana, where the Hindu god Rama is said to have been in exile for years. Historical evidence suggests that the area was governed by the Maurya, Satabahana, Rashtrakuta, and Yadabas Osmanabads, and by the Mughal, Bahmani, Hyderm, and Adilshire kingdoms. Prior to the rule of Hyderabad Nizam, it was under the control of King Aurangzeb of Mugar.
