History:
Tiruchirappalli, also known as Tiruchi or Trichy, is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of the Tiruchirappalli region. The city is said to be the best city to live in, with the cleanest city in Tamil Nadu, and the fifth safest city for women in India. Tiruchirappalli was long under the rule of the Mughal Empire, which was overthrown by the rulers of Vijayanagar. The Nayaks, rulers of the Vijayanagar Empire, ruled the area until A.D. 1736. It was Viswanatha Nayaka who built the Teppakulam and the modern Fort.
