Sambhal (Bheem Nagar)
History:
Sambal has a rich history and was inhabited by several rulers and emperors. From Lodi to the Mughal Empire, from the 5th to 16th centuries BC, it was under the control of one or another emperor. The district was advertised on September 28, 2011 and was created by the state government on July 23, 2012. The state government has decided to name the new district "Bhimnagar" in honor of social reformer Bhimrao Ambedkar. However, in the rural areas adjacent to the city of Sambal, large-scale protests have taken place against attempts to rename the ancient city.
