History:

Gonda district is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, and has a rich history dating back to the ancient kingdom of Kosla. It was once a part of Gorakhpur Nizamat, which was transferred to the British in 1801 and later became a separate district after the annexation of Awad in 1856. Gonda played a crucial role in India's independence struggle. In 1875, a portion of the district was transferred to Nepal by the British government. Today, Gonda is known for its religious places that symbolize its spiritual significance and has five cities and 594 villages within its borders. The total area of the district is 4003 km2 and it has four sub-districts.
