History:
Sephijjala prefecture is the state of Tripura, India. The district was created in January 2012 with the establishment of four new districts in Tripura, taking the number of districts in the province from four to eight. Part of the district was established in the former West Tripura region. Tripura, which once had only one District, is now divided into eight counties. According to the Government's decision, following the division of the West Tripura district, the Spahijala District began its administrative work at the end of 2011 in a two-story office building.

It is best known for its leopard enclosures. The sanctuary is home to many birds, monkeys, and other species of animals, except for the two hot summer months March and April.
