Bargarh is a city and municipality in the Bargarh region of India's Odisha province. It is the administrative headquarters of Bargarh District. Bargarh is famous for planting 'paddy', hence the name "Bhata Handi" of Odisha State. The real name of Bargarh County was "Baghar Kota" as it has been known since the 11th century AD. the great fortress of its defense.
