Doiwala
Doiwala (डोईवाला) is a small municipality and tehsil in Dehradun (देहरादून) district, nestled in the Terai (तेरे) belt of the Doon Valley (दूँ वैली). Sitting at around 485 meters above sea level, it's located approximately 20 kilometers from Dehradun city and acts as a connecting point between Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh.

Around 12,500 human beings live in Doiwala, in nearly 1,800 homes. Men slightly outnumber girls, with a sex ratio of around 870 ladies for every 1,000 men. The literacy rate here is high, over 90 percent. Male literacy stands around 94 percent, and female literacy is around 86 percent.
Around 11 percent of the population is children under the age of six. The population has a healthy mix of religions, with Hindus constituting the largest community, followed by Muslims and a minority of Sikhs.
Doiwala is practically founded on forest and agricultural livelihoods. Levels of literacy in the surrounding rural belts are also slowly improving; most villages now have a literacy rate in excess of 80 percent among the people.
The locals are involved in farming, have small stores, or seek employment in schools, the government, or in exports. Around 85 percent of the locals are in full-time employment, and the rest seek seasonal or part-time employment, depending on the season.
Lachhiwala (लच्छीवाला) is located along Doiwala, a woodland area that functions as non-violent swimming pools, picnic spots, and peaceful strolling trails. It is a famous spot for family day journeys from nearby cities to spend an afternoon enjoying the extraordinary outdoors.
Suryadhar Lake (सूर्यधार लेक), a reservoir created by humans, has become a useful resource in supplying water to approximately 18 villages. Now, it is not only a peaceful spot but also a source of water for irrigation.
Doiwala is prominent for its well-developed connectivity. There are roads connecting Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. The town has a railway station on the Dehradun-Delhi line. Jolly Grant Airport is likewise located 5 kilometers away, and consequently, the city is one of the most convenient locations in the area.
Doiwala has a nearby governing body that appears after roads, water, strength, and sanitation. The metropolis is cut up into clear administrative wards. Politically, the metropolis has been in the spotlight over time. It comes below the Haridwar parliamentary constituency, and its humans have elected prominent personalities, a number of whom have become chief ministers.
Doiwala may not stand out at first glance, however, it’s a town where the way of life and development meet every day. Farmers, faculty youngsters, shopkeepers, and office-goers all form its rhythm. It holds its records in one hand and its destiny in the other.
This is a place where humans live close to forests, ship their children to high school with large desires, and construct small lives that depend deeply.
Doiwala isn't always a vacationer hotspot. It is a city that works quietly, rooted, steady, and proud in its manner.
If you ever locate yourself between Dehradun and Rishikesh, stop here for some time. Sit close to the woodland, talk to a shopkeeper, or simply walk through the lanes. You’ll sense a rhythm that’s no longer fast, but it’s full of life.
